Description: The Baton Rouge and Louisiana culture makes this Y unique and the city an unparalleled place to live and raise a family. Over the past six years, the Y has developed two new full-facility operations through capital campaigns and the use of New Markets Tax Credits. In 2010 the Association secured $5.2 million for the construction of the ExxonMobil branch in North Baton Rouge. Another campaign in 2013 secured $9.8 million for the construction of the Americana Branch in Zachary, LA. In addition to these successful capital campaigns, the Y, through its dedicated volunteers, has achieved great fundraising success, with an annual campaign of approximately $660,000. The Association has an active Cornerstone Society of planned giving supporters, with a permanent endowment of $3.7 million.
Responsibilities: A visionary leader who is a skilled advocate for communicating the mission, goals and values of the YMCA within the community and beyond, to broaden the reach and impact of the Y.

The successful candidate must have demonstrated abilities in leadership; management, motivation and development of staff; membership development and fundraising. Located in the capital of Louisiana, this position offers a unique opportunity to influence the public policy position of the Y throughout the entire state. The Association is energetic and enthusiastic and is proud to share its home city with LSU, Southern University and Baton Rouge Community College. Along with several Louisiana cities, it celebrates the Mardi Gras tradition with great fanfare.

Other Requirements: The CEO must have the capacity to understand and embrace the specific culture of the Baton Rouge community. The YMCA of the Capital Area will celebrate its 100th anniversary in April of 2017. With a $14.2 million annual operating budget, the Y includes nine branches serving the greater Baton Rouge area. The Association serves over 140,000 individuals through programs and membership and has maintained a balanced operating budget as well as accumulated reserves to address future needs. After 20 years of leadership, the current CEO is retiring. The Board of Directors is seeking a strong leader who is committed to the values of the YMCA and is able to lead this solid and financially secure organization into the future.
