Responsibilities: The YMCA of Southwestern Indiana is seeking a controller for its growing multi-branch association. YMCAYMCA of Southwestern Indiana LocationEvansville, IN Job Description The Controller serves as the association leader for the business office and is responsible for developing and executing finance and accounting operations in support of the overall mission, business plan, and strategic direction of the association. The Controller will oversee the association financial operations including finance, treasury, accounting, budgeting, financial planning, and financial reporting. The Controller is responsible for articulating finance and accounting operations and results to Branch Executives, COO and CEO and for directing the fiscal functions of the association in a manner that assures the associations fiscal stability. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field, Minimum 5 years progressively responsible in the areas of finance, accounting, and technology operations. YMCA, non-profit or mission orientated experience preferred. Demonstrated success in developing and delivering outstanding financial, accounting, and business technology management including finance, treasury, accounting, audit, technology operations, budgeting, and financial reporting and analysis. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with volunteers, senior management team members, operations team members, and all levels of employees. Proven experience developing effective teams which deliver organization wide services History of proven, measureable results for managing growth and aligning finance, accounting, and business technology processes and tools to support strategic business priorities Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills including conflict management and collaboration Excellent communication skills: written, oral, and presentation Strong analytical and technical skills Experience working effectively within a matrix, mission orientated, and diverse business environment. Essential Functions Provides leadership and support to executives and management on matters of finance and accounting, business technology, annual budgeting process and implementing strategic financial objectives. Maintain and ensure finance and business technology efforts are efficient and effectively communicate and support the associations mission, goals and strategic vision while safeguarding its assets. Provides overall leadership and day to day management to the business office personnel by effectively leading and managing financial operations, treasury, accounting, business technology, budgeting, and financial reporting and analysis. Oversees the management of all accounting functions, assuring that monthly financial statements provide a timely, accurate picture of current financial conditions of the association consistent with generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP), nonprofit law, and association policy. Conducts internal audits to assure compliance. Ensures the associations business and financial records are maintained in accordance with financial accounting and reporting systems, controls, accountabilities, legal, tax and audit parameters in consultation with the COO and CEO and Audit Committee of the association. Provides leadership during collection and analysis of the association's Y-USA Cost Study Tool. Reconciling the cash flow, investment activities, capital projects, asset sales, and the safeguarding of the association's assets. Oversees the development of the annual operating budget, including all branches and prepares timeline and budget retreat agenda. Establishes and maintains constructive and effective relationships with the auditors, bankers, investment counselors, attorneys, and other professional advisors Effectively hires, retains, and manages the business office personnel. Oversees the financial reporting and preparation of reports to the United Way, YMCA of the USA, and government agencies. Oversees the review, update and/or development of internal control systems for the Association and oversees internal audits which check for compliance on a variety of policies and standards. Provides recommendations for improvement. Oversees the annual audit and meets periodically with the outside auditors and audit committee of the Board to maintain communications and keep them informed of changes in the Association. Oversees the development, implementation, and management of strategic, comprehensive and effective Business Technology policies, plans and initiatives for the Association including training and the implementation and operation of new hardware/and or software technologies as well as data security. Ensures continued compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and standards including HIPAA and PCI. Oversees the planning and delivery of technical support functions for information processing as well as ensuring the integrity and security of association databases.
