YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is a year-around retreat and conference center located just outside of Asheville, North Carolina in the Black Mountains. For over a century, YMCA Blue Ridge has welcomed YMCAs and other groups to come together to build relationships, learn, discover the beauty of nature, enjoy healthy outdoor activities, and grow spiritually and mentally. In serving, the Assembly strives to adhere to both the values of the YMCA and principles on which it was founded – respect all, work diligently, provide for others needs and serve with integrity and kindness. With over 30 years of successful fiscal operations, the Assembly has recently completed a $3.5 million dollar campaign resulting in the renovation of two signature facilities. During the past three years, the Assembly has enjoyed its best years of operations welcoming over 30,000 guests in 2016. The annual operating budget of $4.2 million is supported with significant accumulated reserves and investment income. Due to the retirement of the CEO, the Board of Directors is seeking a new President/CEO to build upon this unprecedented growth and progress by providing visionary leadership to complete the implementation of the Vision 2020 plan. The plan includes: partnering with YMCAs and other kindred organizations to provide life-changing experiences, providing innovative leadership in the development and design of training programs and initiatives, building upon a highly productive and competent volunteer and staff team, and expanding the philanthropic reach and impact of the Assembly. Along with an outstanding record in financial development and fiscal management, the successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to develop and work with a strong Board of Directors, as well as develop and maintain strategic relationships with influential leaders throughout the Y movement and Southeastern United States, leveraging those relationships to enhance support for the Assembly's mission. ASSOCIATION FACTS: Founded in 1906 as a summer conference center to train YMCA directors Campus consists of 1200 acres, 34 buildings, amphitheater, pool, tennis courts, playground and outdoor adventure center Served over 30,000 conferees in 2016 2016 budget of $4.2 million Staff: 35 full time, 65 part time, 165 seasonal SALARY RANGE:$111,000 - $167,000 annualized Benefits include retirement contribution plan with 12% of salary contributed by the association (when eligibility requirements are met), housing, vacation plan, health plan and other benefits per the personnel policy. Qualifications MINIMUM CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATES: Accredited 4-year college degree. Minimum seven years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Personal values consistent with the YMCA mission. Ability to develop and strengthen relationships. Demonstrated ability to present the YMCA's mission and impact to diverse groups. YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (Note: Candidates not already in possession of this certification have up to three years to obtain via Y-USA). Essential Functions PRIMARY FOCUS AREAS FOR THE NEW CEO WILL INCLUDE: 1. Advocating for the Impact and Vision of YMCA Blue Ridge: Be an ambassador for the mission, goals, and values of the Assembly, resulting in a deeper relationship and expanded partnership with local YMCAs, state alliance groups, YUSA and other affiliated organizations. 2. Leading Financial Development Efforts: Build upon a culture of philanthropy to meet the growing capitol needs and increased annual giving requirements. Lead the way in acquiring new donors, increasing endowment by one million dollars over the next three years and ensuring the Assembly is prepared for a successful capital campaign in 2020. 3. Strengthening and Supporting the Board Of Directors: Work with the board and Partner YMCAs to cultivate, recruit and develop a regional board that will be recognized as a group of premier YMCA, civic, business and religious leaders fully equipped to provide bold leadership and resources to the Assembly's Vision. 4. Maintaining Fiscal Integrity: Provide leadership to grow the budget at a minimum of 4.5% annually, meeting budgeted reserves and controlling costs. 5. Providing Leadership to Ensure a High Performing Staff Team: Recruit top performers, strengthen teamwork, and increase the capacity of the Senior team to deliver on strategic priorities.
