Responsibilities: The Vice President, Health & Wellness will provide vision, leadership and hands on support for the Health & Wellness initiatives for the largest YMCA in the United States. This position is responsible for developing strategy, incorporating best practices from the field, making key decisions, and supporting program implementation across an Association of 24 branches and over 100 off-site locations. This role will be focused on leading the Health & Wellness department, and supporting branches with meeting the needs of our communities through preventive health, fitness and wellness.

A minimum of 5 years' experience as a successful leader within a large, federated organization; YMCA experience a plus. Experience creating and implementing health programs. Experience creating and managing government programs/contracts. Experience in community health and chronic disease prevention. Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting. Essential Functions In collaboration with the SVP, Programs, charged with developing the strategy and support to enable branches to create the best possible health and wellness experience for our members. Provide the vision and resources that drive member satisfaction, recruitment and retention. Provide oversight of all health and wellness programming, including but not limited to youth, teen, and adult fitness and wellness, group exercise classes, youth sports, aquatics and diabetes prevention. In collaboration with SVP, Programs and Chief Operating Officer (COO), responsible for developing appropriate organizational structure for portfolio. Work with SVP, Programs, COO and senior leadership to refine our health and wellness portfolio, with an eye towards industry/ market best practices and community need. Promote growth and innovation by creating a clear vision and strategy for short and long term success. This includes reviewing comparable entities that have preventive health, fitness, and wellness, analyzing trends, and utilizing data to best position our Association. Identify areas for additional impactful programs for our members and communities. Define our competitive advantage in the NYC market. Collaborate with the VP, Membership, VP, Youth & Community Development, VP, Field Operators and Executive Directors to develop community and branch profiles to inform overall recruitment and programming strategy. Provide supervisory oversight of the Health & Wellness Department, and direction to the Health & Wellness Cabinet. Implement strategies and programs that promote health and wellness among staff. Responsible for all systems, content, processes and policy creation. Function as subject matter expert on all health and wellness programs. Ensure ongoing audits and site visits. Understand trends in the preventive health, fitness and wellness world to inform our work. Support the COO and senior leadership in achieving strategic goals for the organization, including but not limited to support for: Driving revenue/membership at the branches Improving program quality, fidelity, and participation at the branches. Collecting and analyzing data to inform the strategic direction of both branch and Association work. Connecting with the community to ensure the demand for programs and services matches need and that our solutions will have a sustainable, lasting impact. Drive member loyalty, and creates opportunities. Partner with SVP, Programs and VP, Membership to ensure retention of members and participants. Provide insight into popularity/satisfaction, and areas for improvement. Ensure well-versed in underlying rationale/strategies driving overall program strategy. Work with Human Resources at the Association Office on learning and development initiatives. Work closely with and support Field Operating VPs and Executive Directors to help their branch meet their goals. Build partnerships with institutions and build YMCA brand in the field. Collaborate and build internal relationships. Collaborate with YUSA peers and leaders as the representative from NYC on all health and wellness matters regarding program development and implementation. Understand demographics of our members and potential members to address trends in communities served. Become fluent in data systems, assisting branches with on-the-ground usage. Routinely collect, manage and interpret Health and Wellness data. Analyze current member needs to help inform Health & Wellness priorities.
