YMCASomerset County YMCA LocationBasking Ridge, NJ Job Description We are looking for an experienced finance professional to oversee the accounting function at the Somerset County YMCA. The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will supervise accounting staff, prepare complete and accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, coordinate monthly close, assist withannual audit, assist with annual forecast and budget, oversee the payrolland A/P functions and prepare other reports as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field Licensed CPA Minimum of 6-8 years accounting experience overseeing financial operations Demonstrated knowledge of information systems and processes Prior supervisory experience including oversight of payroll function Demonstrated competence in accounting, organizational finance, cash management, and financial controls Non-profit fund accounting experience preferred Advanced skills in financial software and database management Ability to train and coach staff Strong interpersonal and communication skills, team orientation, and collaborative style Strong problem solving skills Excellent Excel skills Strong critical thinking skills, strong mathematical aptitude, attention to detail, strong time management skills, and ability to meet deadlines YMCA Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification desired Essential Functions Hires, trains, supervises and manages accounting personnel and budgets, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general accounting areas. Maintains an accounting system to accomplish the proper recording and reporting of all operations, transactions, assets and liabilities of the YMCA for all funds. Serves as resource person to management and program personnel in all matters relating to accounting and accounts payable. Supervises or prepares reconciliations of all YMCA bank accounts on a monthly basis. Prepares financial statements required by management, the Board, and outside agencies. Maintains records, and prepare various internal and external reports, including reports for various federal and state agencies. Maintains records and supervises the preparation of reports.
