Responsibilities: The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO). YMCAYMCA of Memphis & The Mid-South LocationMemphis, TN Job DescriptionThe CFO will partner with the CEO and COO, to be an active participant and driver of the organization's overall business strategy while also setting and monitoring the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South's financial policy and direction. The CFO will oversee and manage all financial matters, investments and information system including giving direction and leadership for YMCA business operations and strategic initiatives. As a member of the Executive Staff, the CFO will work closely with a motivated and engaged Finance Committee of the Board of Director. Qualifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred. Bachelor's degree in business, finance or equivalent. Ten or more years of experience in accounting and financial management including experience managing staff team. Knowledge and understanding of general business matters required including budget development, cash management, business taxes, and debt financing instruments. Knowledge of computer technology including experience with system selection, new system implementation and project management. Committed to up to date software and best practices. Personal computer skills with related software required. Experience with investment management and asset allocation preferred. Direct experience with voluntary/non-profit organizations. Requires excellent communication, interpersonal and Executive functioning skills. YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred. Passion for the Y movement and eager to interact on a broader level with others in similar roles in the YMCA. Essential Functions Key member of Executive Staff communicating with COO and CEO. Works directly with assigned committee(s) of the Board to build volunteer relationships, develop policies, monitor their implementation and meet the related needs of the Board. Manages/supervises the Metro office finance staff; oversees the operations of the Association accounting and finance departments. Reviews, updates, and/or develops internal control systems for the Association and conducts internal audits with check for compliance on a variety of policies and standards. Provides recommendations for improvement. Monitors the annual audit and meets periodically with the outside auditors to maintain communications and keep them informed of changes in the Association. Ensures that current accounting standards and legal requirements are met. Manages the investment of operating cash flow, reserves and capital funds within the risk tolerance expressed by the Finance Committee and Board. Oversees preparation of reports to United Way, YMCA of the USA and governmental agencies as needed. Oversees preparation of tax returns. Directs the development of branch budgets and prepares and/or reviews all budgets for the Association. Works closely with Executives to ensure that branch budgets are well-planned, realistic, and prepared in a timely manner. Monitors monthly financial operations analysis and guidance to branch management staff. Prepares specific recommendations, analysis and projections for CEO and COO. Risk Management liaison keeping detailed records of all Incident Reports with appropriate follow up with insurance carriers. Lead contact for workman's comp carrier as well as general liability carrier. Manages tax-exempt bond transactions and files all necessary reports. Establishes, maintains and/or monitors all banking relationships. Maintains all necessary records and accounting reports for contracts, endowment funds, etc. Maintains good working relationships with auditors, bankers, investment counselors, attorneys and other professional advisors to the Association. Represents the YMCA with key community organizations and events as required.
