Responsibilities: AIG's Internal Audit Group (IAG) plays a critical role in protecting the assets, reputation and sustainability of AIG. The team adds value through helping improve operations; bringing a rigorous approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. The successful candidate will benefit from working in a large and diverse financial services firm and within a team-oriented environment of the Internal Audit Group. The candidate will be able to have a unique view of AIG, as part of planning and executing on all aspects of the audit process and risk assessment activities and will build close working relationships with business and functional leaders, colleagues across other assurance functions, and within Internal Audit. We are seeking anInternal Audit Managerto join our CorporateGroup which is located in our New York Office. Your focus will be on testing of operational audits within the Chief Operating Office; specifically, Human Resources, Administration and Communications. Specific responsibilities will include: Coordinate globally and manage the execution of the audit plan which includes risk and control evaluation, testing, audit report issuance, work paper review, and follow-up and verification of issues closure. Continuously update the business risk and control environment assessments for the business areas assigned, through periodic client meetings, ad-hoc walkthroughs and data analytics. Lead and execute risk based audits with limited supervision, including developing the audit test plan, completing the test plan, leading meetings, coaching staff auditors and reviewing audit work papers for compliance with Internal Audit methodology. Communicate test results with the Internal Audit team and business management both verbally and through written audit reports. Identify the root cause for internal control deficiencies and be able to provide suggestions for corrective action, including evaluating management action responses to address the root cause. Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness for areas under audit. Draft issues, audit reports, process narratives and other documents that require minimal editing. Identify and evaluate key risks and controls across different business processes. Able to independently execute on assignments, including planning, executing and reporting on the results of audit work, and completing work paper documentation, in accordance with the AIG Internal Audit Group's Standard. Demonstrates a good level of relevant industry, accounting and operational knowledge, including understanding the relevance of SOX and/or regulatory implications. Collaborates with colleagues and internal stakeholders/management to perform risk assessments and develop audit programs for validating internal controls. Coordinates with other control functions such as Fraud Investigation team, SOX, Risk Management, Compliance, and external auditors to leverage review. Ability to articulate audit issues and draft audit findings in a concise manner. Establishes effective working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues. Involvement in multiple audits/projects, within a team environment Position Requirements: 6+ years of relevant auditing experience with a corporate audit department or major CPA firm. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with preference in Accounting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint), knowledge of Visio is a plus. Effective time management with the ability to coordinate and prioritize competing initiatives Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate questions and responses with management Consistently meets deadlines and works additional hours where required Certified Public Accountant license or other relevant industry certifications is preferred Excellent team player.
