The Greater Valley YMCA serves communities in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, which is the third largest population in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburg. Known for affordable housing, a low cost of living, great schools, and a vibrant arts and entertainment scene, the Lehigh Valley has a lot to offer. The Greater Valley YMCA is a seven branch, $10MM association. More information can be found at and Qualifications Preferred Formal Education: 4-year degree in related field w/YMCA Organizational Leader Certificate Fifteen or more years of professional experience in the YMCA or another nonprofit preferred. Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, successful membership practices, quality program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and sound financial practices. Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others. YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred. Versatility, flexibility, and ability to work within changing priorities as well as the ability to manage priorities and workflow; ability to delegate Commitment to excellence and high standards; natural affinity to detail but with ability to balance perfection with common sense Ability to work independently Proficient in technology, including: Excel, Word, Explorer, Outlook, DAXKO, PowerPoint, etc. Passion, enthusiasm, and a positive outlook Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace Have, or be willing to be certified in, CPR, 1stAid, and Blood Bourne Pathogen Training, Child Abuse Prevention Training and any other YMCA recommended training for this position Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid PA Driver's License within two weeks of start and willing to travel as needed Professional appearance and demeanor Essential Functions Assures sound operations through direct management of the branch executive directors, including coaching and providing overall direction to the branch staff and volunteers. Ensures Financial Success by taking all necessary actions to assure that branch and association revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled. Builds a strong culture at the Y. Ensures human resources best practices are being followed, including that the YMCA work culture is saturated with YMCA values. 4.Models relationship-building and team-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community. Staff Development. Implements and oversees the staff development plan and training system. Ensures Quality Control. Implements and oversees a membership/program quality control evaluation system to guarantee faithfulness to the Y's cause, and a high quality commitment to YMCA standards. Drives operational growth including program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new program site development, collaborations, etc. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities, including the identification of potential areas for branch cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals. Identifies, establishes, and fosters inter-branch collaboration. Attends board, branch advisory council, and committee meetings as needed. Maintains effective communication with board members, branch directors, and CEO. Implements practical solutions to complete strategic plan initiatives. Follow the policies and procedures established by the organization. Be able to relate to members the programs that the YMCA offers (and the mission statement). Prepare statistical, analytical and narrative reports as needed, including reports to committees, the Board of Directors and the President/CEO. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
