Responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Vice President, this position is responsible for creating, implementing, and being accountable for all aspects of Aurora University’s multimedia communications strategy, including an internal and external communications plan, public and media relations, print publications, electronic communications strategies (internal and external), and web-based marketing. In collaboration with key members of the senior leadership team the Vice President will provide leadership to a branding strategy for the University with a goal of significantly increasing the awareness and visibility of Aurora University throughout the western corridor of Chicago.

Other Requirements: We are seeking a dynamic, professional leader with at least ten years of experience in highly effective, sophisticated, and broad-based communications programs – preferably in higher education. Successful candidates will be creative, energetic, flexible and able to handle constantly changing priorities and deadlines. This leader must be an organized self-starter with the ability to focus knowledge and resources to dramatically increase AU´s visibility through a comprehensive integrated communications plan. We are seeking a natural leader who can motivate and inspire teammates and lead and mentor staff.

* Career track record that shows stability with an organization and a demonstrated ability to develop, nurture and build relationships culminating in increased visibility and communications success.
* Demonstrated ability to build teams and enhance the professionalism of the Communications staff.
* Proven expertise in taking initiative, building and maintaining strong rapport and positive relationships with staff, trustees, alumni and members of the communications, philanthropic and business communities.
* Strategic in thinking and orientation; ability to deal with emergent issues, multiple projects and constituents simultaneously.
* Experience in or supervision in the areas of media relations, public relations/marketing, graphic design, market research, web design and development, social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), e-communications and publication management systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in various mediums), with the ability to serve as a spokesperson for the University.
* Demonstrated ability to set and achieve or exceed goals and meet deadlines.
